Select Plants - selecting your plants

Select applicable plants to be used for your Planting Design.

To Select Plants

1. A list of potential plants is displayed in the Potential Plants dialog box. The plants are sorted by their common name. Clicking the Scientific Name button will display the sorted plant list by their Scientific name.

2. Click on a plant choice in the Select Plants dialog box, or ctrl+click for multiple choices.

3. Click on the right navigation button to transfer plants to the User Selected Plants dialog box.

4. To remove selected plants, click or ctrl+click on plants and click on the left navigation button to transfer plants back to the Potential Plants dialog box.

5. Select the Planting Design link to go on to the planting design section.

6. VegSpec will not list any plant that is a designated noxious weed in the chosen state. VegSpec may list a potential plant that is a designated noxious weed in another state. Plants and state where the plant has noxious weed status is listed as a warning below the potential plants list.

To View Plant Attributes

1. Click on Plant Attributes. A list of plants and a list of plant attributes are displayed.

2. Select a plant, or ctrl+click for multiple choices.

3. Select an attribute, or ctrl+click for multiple choices.

4. Additional plants may be added for review by entering their Plant Symbol and Release Name when needed. Plant Symbol must be entered in capital letters.

5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on a button view choice to define how your attributes table is displayed.

6. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to view a table populated with attributes data.

7. Select Ctrl+P if you would like to print out this table to your printer.

To View Plant Profile from Plants Database

1. Click on one plant in the User Selected Plants dialog box.

2. Click on . A new window will open with the Plant Profile from Plants database for the selected plant.

To Add a User Selected Plant

1. User may add any plant that is in the VegSpec database, even though VegSpec did not suggest the plant.

2. Enter any portion of the common name, scientific name or plant symbol in the provided block near the bottom of the page, select the appropriate type of name from the pull down menu and select .

3. All applicable plants in the VegSpec database will be listed. Select the desired plant and click on the button to add the plant to the User Selected Plant list.
